Real Madrid’s signing of Kylian Mbappé, one of the summer’s most high-profile transfers, is now reportedly facing internal doubts, with claims that the club regrets bringing the French forward to the Santiago Bernabéu. According to Spanish journalist Romain Molina, concerns have emerged within the club, with some fearing they have made a “big mistake” by acquiring the star player.
For years, Real Madrid pursued Mbappé, who had been one of the most sought-after talents during his time at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Despite several failed attempts to secure his signature while he was in France, the move to Real Madrid finally materialized this summer, after Mbappé made it clear he would not be extending his contract with PSG.
During the earlier part of the year, there were rumors of Premier League interest, with clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City mentioned as possible destinations for the 24-year-old forward. However, Real Madrid emerged as the frontrunner, finalizing the deal in July. Expectations were high, with many predicting that Mbappé would be a perfect fit for the club and a future Ballon d’Or winner.
However, the transition has not been as smooth as anticipated. Real Madrid had a challenging start to the season, with Mbappé failing to score in his first three La Liga appearances. The team dropped points against Mallorca and Las Palmas during this period, which led to some early criticism. Despite this slow start, Mbappé’s form picked up before the international break, as he managed to net seven goals and provide one assist across various competitions.

Amid his on-field challenges, Mbappé also faced issues off the pitch. Recently, he addressed rumors that linked him to a suspected rape case, calling them “fake news.” These allegations surfaced after Swedish media reported that the incident occurred at the same hotel where Mbappé and his entourage stayed in Stockholm. However, the Swedish authorities confirmed that while an investigation is underway, Mbappé’s name is not mentioned in their statement.
Within Real Madrid, there seem to be mixed feelings about the high-profile signing. Romain Molina claims that the club’s leadership is already second-guessing the decision to bring in Mbappé. According to the reports, the team’s head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, was not in favor of the signing, and several board members were also against it. It is suggested that Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Pérez, was the “only one that wanted him” on the team.
