President Bola Tinubu has removed Mohammed Bello-Koko from his position as Managing Director of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA). The president did not provide a reason for this decision.
In a statement on Friday, presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale announced that Abubakar Dantsoho has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the NPA. Additionally, former senator Dayo Adeyeye has been named the chairperson of the NPA board.
Ngelale stated, “President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Abubakar Dantsoho as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
“The president has also approved the appointment of Adedayo Adeyeye as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).”

Dantsoho holds a Doctorate in Maritime Technology from Liverpool John Moores University, UK, and a Master’s in International Transport from Cardiff University of Wales, UK. He has served in various roles at the NPA, including Assistant General Manager, Technical Assistant to the Managing Director, Port Manager of Onne Port, and Principal Manager of Tariff & Billing.
Adeyeye, the new Board Chairman, is an experienced lawyer, journalist, and politician. He is a former Minister of State for Works and served as a senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District.
President Tinubu expects the new leadership to enhance port services and achieve better industry outcomes.
