The Ogun State Police Command has arrested five individuals for allegedly stealing 18 cows from the Great Fold Acres Farm in Ori-Okuta Village, Kajola, along Owode Egba in the Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as Ojo Akintunde, Adamu Abubakar, Udu Saliu, Shehu Sakariyau, and Aliu Muhammed, were detained on Saturday, August 3, 2024.
Police spokesperson Odutola Omolola stated, “The suspects were employees at the farm when 18 cows suddenly disappeared from the cattle ranch.”
Emmanuel Mosaku, the ranch manager, reported the break-in and missing cattle to the police, suspecting the five workers. During the search, police found the suspects loading the stolen cattle onto a truck along the expressway. Additionally, nine other cows were discovered in a nearby forest, tied with ropes.
Odutola explained, “The suspects were caught while loading the stolen cattle onto a truck. The rest of the cattle were found in a bush.”
In a related incident, another suspect was arrested by police operatives from the Sakura Police Division for stealing from an eatery in Isale Oko, Sagamu Local Government Area. The suspects allegedly jumped over the fence of the eatery around 3:00 pm on Monday and stole various food items, including a bag of rice, vegetables, fish, a crate of soft drinks, tubers of yam, and N267,000.
Odutola confirmed, “A 35-year-old man, Soyemi Adedeji, was arrested in connection with the crime, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other fleeing suspects. All the stolen items have been recovered.”
