In another major operation, “NDLEA operatives intercepted 6,125 cartons of codeine syrup, containing 1,050,000 bottles of the opioid, at the Port Harcourt Ports complex in Rivers State. In Abuja, NDLEA disrupted a drug party, arresting 60 suspects at an apartment in Sun City estate. The party, organized by Stanley Ikechukwu, was raided based on credible intelligence. Six suspects were found with ecstasy and cannabis.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (retired), “ordered the release of 20 suspects who tested negative for drugs. Thirty-three others who tested positive were to be released on bail and report to the FCT Command for treatment and counseling.

“Additionally, NDLEA recovered 40.32 kg of Loud, a strong strain of cannabis, from a vehicle abandoned along Lekki-Ikoyi road.”

In Edo State, NDLEA operatives arrested four suspects, namely: Endurance Okon, 24; Joseph Michael, 23; Ovoco Bright, 43; and Goday Abanum, 23, in a forest in Ugun, Igueben LGA. The operatives destroyed 18,632.22 kilograms of cannabis found on 7.45 hectares of farmland.
