The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered illicit drugs and intoxicants worth N42.95 million.
Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, announced the arrest in a statement on Thursday. He said the suspects — 20-year-old Nura Sani from Bauchi State and 35-year-old Ibrahim Lawan from Katsina State — were caught after a robbery at Tokarawa Quarters on September 14.
“They stormed a residence with dangerous weapons and carted away a Mercedes Benz GLK valued at N26.5 million, alongside phones and other valuables,” Kiyawa said.
In another operation, officers recovered 540 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules in Jalli Village, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area. The drugs are valued at N40.5 million.
Kiyawa added that on September 30, police intercepted two more suspects, Alhaji Isyaku Babayo of K/Mazugal and Mohammed Ahmed of Dorayi Babba, at Dangauro Trailer Park. They were allegedly found with seven bags of Akuskura, each bag containing 350 bottles. In total, police seized 2,450 bottles, worth N2.45 million.

“All the recovered illicit substances, including suspects linked to over N120 million worth of Tramadol, Pregabalin, and Cannabis Sativa, have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation,” Kiyawa said.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised his officers for their professionalism. He assured residents that efforts were ongoing to arrest fleeing suspects and recover more stolen property.
He also thanked members of the public for their support. “We appreciate the cooperation of residents and urge them to continue working with security agencies in the fight against crime,” he said.
