Residents of Kubwa, a district in Abuja, are in shock after Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, a veterinary doctor and former chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT Chapter, was killed by gunmen who also kidnapped his three children.
The tragic incident happened Friday night when armed men invaded Dr. Ogbu’s home along the Kubwa-Kaduna Road. According to reports, the attackers abducted him and his children before later dumping his body by the roadside.
Confirming the death in a Facebook post, Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu, a close associate of the late doctor, said, “Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, the immediate past chairman of the NVMA FCT chapter, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa Abuja, was found dead. The three children are yet to be released. May God please intervene.”

Friends and colleagues have described Dr. Ogbu as a dedicated professional who served his community with passion. One colleague said, “This is heartbreaking. He was kind, humble, and deeply committed to his work. The veterinary community has lost one of its finest.”
The late doctor leaves behind a nursing wife and other grieving family members.
Security sources said efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue his abducted children. However, the FCT Police Command has not released an official statement. Calls and messages sent to the command were not answered at press time.
Dr. Ogbu’s death comes just a week after Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a journalist with Arise TV, was killed during a robbery in Katampe, another area of Abuja — raising fresh concerns about rising insecurity in the nation’s capital.
