Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has been accepted as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the body that organises the GRAMMY Awards.
With this role, Davido will join other music professionals around the world to help decide who wins at the 2026 GRAMMYs.
The Recording Academy confirmed his membership on Tuesday in a post on Instagram.
“Creating a song or an album takes heart, time, and dedication,” the Academy wrote, while listing Davido and other new members.

Davido, who earned three GRAMMY nominations in 2024, said he is excited to be part of the process.
“Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard, I am participating in the GRAMMY Award process. It is a game-changer. I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season. I am honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community, and I look forward to voting,” he said.
His inclusion comes as the Academy works to expand and diversify its membership, giving more recognition to African and international artists.
The Recording Academy also announced that voting for the 2026 GRAMMYs will open on October 3.
“Recording Academy voting members: review the ballot, listen, and vote early,” it advised.
