Crossdresser and Socialite, Bobrisky

Popular Nigerian crossdresser and socialite, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has revealed that he was recently scammed in an online romance scheme. He lost $990 (about ₦1.3 million) to a fraudster who pretended to be in love with him.

Bobrisky shared the story on his Instagram page on Sunday, expressing shock that he could fall victim to such a scam despite being a public figure and social media influencer.

Bobrisky wrote, “I never thought in my life I would be a client to anybody. This guy came to my DM, and we got talking — close to a few months now. He calls me almost every day. He said he lived in the USA but moved to Canada.”

According to him, the scammer kept in regular contact for several months, calling and chatting with him daily and pretending to care about him. Bobrisky said he trusted the person because of the consistency and attention he was getting.

Trouble started when Bobrisky was contacted by someone in the United States who wanted to pay for an advertisement. The client requested to send the payment through CashApp, a mobile money transfer service popular in North America.

Since Bobrisky does not use CashApp, he asked the man he had been talking to online to receive the money on his behalf.

Bobrisky explained, “Few weeks later, someone in the USA reached out for ads. She said she needed a CashApp to pay her deposit, and I asked this guy to talk to me. He said he would give me his own. As soon as he got the money, he blocked me immediately.”

Bobrisky said he was heartbroken and disappointed by the betrayal, especially after building a relationship he believed was real. He shared screenshots of their conversations and even posted a photo of the alleged scammer to warn others.

In his message to fans and followers, Bobrisky urged everyone to be careful and not to trust people they meet online, no matter how real the relationship may seem.

“Please, my lovely fans, be careful out there. Some people are just out to deceive and take advantage of your kindness,” he said.
