The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four suspects for alleged involvement in child abuse, robbery, and illegal possession of firearms. The arrests underscore the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the state.
Speaking during a press briefing in Bauchi, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakil, shared details of the cases. He revealed that on December 30, 2024, police operatives apprehended a 41-year-old man accused of engaging in unnatural sexual activities with an 11-year-old boy.
“The suspect lured the victim by offering him food and money,” Wakil explained.
The case has sparked outrage among the public, with many calling for swift justice for the victim.
In a separate incident, the police arrested a 38-year-old man on December 31 for allegedly assaulting a 10-year-old boy.
“The suspect intimidated the victim and forced him into an uncompleted building,” Wakil said, adding that investigations into both cases are ongoing.
The police also detained two suspects on January 8, 2025, for allegedly possessing illegal firearms and conspiring to carry out robberies.
“They were suspected of purchasing firearms from an anonymous source and planning multiple robbery operations,” Wakil disclosed.

During the arrest, law enforcement recovered two fabricated pistols, two motorcycles, a machete, two ATM cards, and a ring, all believed to be linked to the suspects’ criminal activities.
CSP Wakil reassured residents of the Bauchi State Police Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.
“We call on the public to report any suspicious movements and persons to the police. Your cooperation is crucial to ensuring the safety of our communities,” he said.
The arrests have drawn mixed reactions from residents, with many applauding the police for their swift action.
A local resident, Ibrahim Musa, said, “The police are doing a good job by addressing these crimes, but we also need to educate our communities to prevent such incidents.”
The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, and they are expected to face charges in court soon
