Armed robbers invaded the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) 105.1 Prime FM station in Lokoja, Kogi State, in the early hours of Saturday, stealing valuable equipment and forcing the station off air.
The attackers overpowered the lone security guard on duty at the station’s Jimgbe premises, tied him up, and stole several items, including radio frequency amplifier modules, transmitter copper, AM batteries, consoles, and recording handsets.
Speaking about the incident, Momoh-Jimoh Adeiza, the General Manager of the station, said the robbery had disrupted their operations.
“This is a major attack on the station. We are currently off air because our equipment has been stolen by armed criminals. When they came, they tied up our security man to carry out their nefarious activities,” Adeiza said.
He called on security agencies to find the robbers and bring them to justice.
“I am calling on security agencies to double their efforts in apprehending those criminals who have carried out this grievous crime,” Adeiza added.

The Kogi State Government condemned the attack. Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, promised that the government would support efforts to catch the criminals.
“We will work with the management of the station to assess the damage and investigate what led to this unfortunate event. The Kogi State Government is committed to protecting all federal agencies in the state. We will not allow this kind of crime to become a new normal,” Fanwo said in a statement.
He also urged all federal agencies in the state to be more security conscious and to reach out for help when needed.
