The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has denied rumours circulating on social media claiming that its Managing Director, Ali Nuhu, has died.
The false reports began after a Facebook user, Ifeoma Chigbo, posted a video suggesting that the popular actor and filmmaker had passed away. Another post later claimed Nuhu died in a car accident.
In a statement on Monday evening, the Director of Public Affairs at the NFC, Brian Etuk, dismissed the rumours as “false, malicious, and injurious.”
“Dr. Ali Nuhu is alive, well and discharging the responsibilities of the office of NFC’s Chief Executive,” the statement said.

The corporation added that Nuhu has been actively working since his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on February 12, 2024.
The NFC urged the public to ignore the fake claims and warned that steps are being taken to deal with those spreading the rumours.
“NFC wishes to draw the attention of perpetrators… of the dire and unmistakable consequences of their actions,” Etuk stated, adding that “appropriate measures have been initiated to arrest this ugly and unsatisfactory trend.”
The corporation thanked Nigerians for their concern and assured everyone that Ali Nuhu is “alive, healthy and performing his duties.”
