Afam Osigwe, a senior advocate of Nigeria and former general secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has been elected as the NBA president in the 2024 election.
The election took place online, with voting starting at 12 a.m. on Saturday and ending at 11:59 p.m. Results were presented live on the NBA’s official results page.
Osigwe secured 20,435 votes, defeating Tobenna Erojikwe, who received 10,998 votes, and Chukwuka Ikwuazom, who got 9,018 votes. Osigwe will succeed the outgoing president, Yakubu Maikyau.
In other results, Sabastine Anyia won the 1st Vice-President position with 12,114 votes, while Bartholomew Aguegbodo received 6,864 votes. Mrs. Bolatumi Animashaun became the 2nd Vice-President with 26,534 votes, defeating Pius Oiwoh, who scored 11,121 votes. Mrs. Zainab Garba won the 3rd Vice-President position with 23,550 votes, while Michael Olorunmola got 13,897 votes.

Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara was elected as General Secretary with 25,713 votes, defeating Abdulwasiu Alfa, who received 11,730 votes. Henry Ehi became the Assistant General Secretary with 28,552 votes, while Oluwaseun Aka got 8,317 votes.
Mrs. Blessing Udofa-Poromon won the Treasurer position with 17,998 votes, defeating Mbamala Chukwuemeka, who received 9,825 votes. Nyada Auta secured the Welfare Secretary position with 18,369 votes, defeating Oaikhena Osagie, who got 12,855 votes.
Mrs. Bridget Edokwe was elected Publicity Secretary with 19,542 votes, defeating Charles Ajiboye, who scored 10,989 votes. For Assistant Publicity Secretary, Miss Ebiere Ekpese won with 26,955 votes, defeating Lawrence Ayewa, who received 9,690 votes.
