Nollywood actor Nwosu Chukwukelue Michael, popularly known as Yabkaba, says some people in the movie industry have labelled him “gay” because he refuses to date his female colleagues.
Yabkaba, who is known for playing tough gangster roles on screen, said in real life he is very spiritual, quiet, and careful when it comes to relationships.
“My female colleagues usually think I am gay. Some even say I am possessed. It’s not true. I’m just scared of women and very careful with whom I get intimate,” the actor said.
He explained that he made a spiritual covenant to stay focused on his career and avoid romantic distractions in Nollywood.
“Any relationship that goes beyond cordial friendship, I withdraw from it. I keep my energy clean because I am highly spiritual,” he said.
Yabkaba said he plans to get married soon to prove his critics wrong.
“I have already found the love of my life. When I marry her, those who call me gay will know the truth. She’s everything a man wants. The moment I met her, I knew she was my wife,” he said.

He added that his fiancée was originally his fan, and what attracted him to her was her intelligence, caring attitude, and loving nature.
“I am not every lady’s man — I am only meant for my future wife,” he stressed.
Talking about his relationship with fellow actor Zubby Michael, Yabkaba shared a story of how they met on a movie set and quickly became friends. He said Zubby advised him to focus on his career and avoid people who would not help him grow.
“He walked up to me and said, ‘You are a star. Concentrate on building your career. That touched me and since then we have done a few movies together,” Yabkaba recalled.
Despite playing “bad boy” roles in films, Yabkaba said he is a reserved and mysterious person off-camera.
“Only people with spiritual eyes understand me,” he added.
