A 300-level female student of the Food and Science Technology Department at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano, identified as Aisha Yahaya, has been found dead in a student lodge outside the school premises.
According to PUNCH Metro, the student passed away on April 22, 2024, immediately after completing her first examination during the school’s ongoing first-semester examination.
An anonymous student disclosed, “She was found dead immediately after she finished her first paper. Some people who are close to the deceased student said she might have died as a result of examination pressure.”

In a condolence statement by the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, the group expressed their sympathies and highlighted Aisha’s contributions to society. They prayed for her forgiveness and solace in the grave.
Similarly, the school’s Students Union Government extended condolences to Aisha’s family, remembering her for her contributions and the memories she left behind.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the institution, Abdullahi Abdullahi, and the spokesperson for the state police command, Haruna Abdullahi, were unsuccessful.
This incident echoes a similar tragedy in 2021 when a 22-year-old student of Ahmad Idiris was found dead days after going missing from the school. The student’s body was discovered at a sand excavation site in Mariri on the outskirts of Kano City following a police investigation.
