Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED) has announced the launch of a new e-billing system to improve service and customer satisfaction across Plateau State. Starting November 1, 2024, the electricity distribution company will shift from traditional paper bills to electronic bills, delivering monthly energy consumption statements directly to customers via SMS.
Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah, Head of Corporate Communications at JED, explained that the e-billing system will make it easier for customers to access their bills and track their electricity usage accurately. “Customers can now receive their bills on their mobile phones without waiting for paper bills. This ensures accuracy and easy tracking of digital records,” Elijah said.
The new system aims to resolve ongoing issues with paper billing, including delayed delivery and claims from some customers that they didn’t receive their bills. “This will put an end to the incessant allegations from some of our customers denying the delivery of their monthly energy consumption bills by our marketers,” Elijah added.

In addition to improving convenience and accuracy, the e-billing system aligns with JED’s environmental goals by reducing paper waste. Elijah emphasized the company’s commitment to providing a seamless experience for customers, adding that the move to e-billing will help users manage their energy consumption more effectively and securely.
The JED management thanked customers for their patience and urged them to support the transition, emphasizing that “customer satisfaction remains the company’s primary focus.”
