Nasiru Buba, the husband of Tasleem, a woman accused of engaging in an affair with Jigawa State’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwalu Sankara, has made a heartfelt appeal to the governors of Jigawa and Kano states. He has asked them to intervene to save his marriage from collapsing amid the ongoing controversy.
In a press briefing on Tuesday in Kano, Buba urged the governors not to give in to pressure from those attempting to “kill” the case and influence its outcome. He emphasized the need for a fair and transparent investigation.
“All I need is for the governors of Jigawa and Kano to help me ensure that justice is done in this matter,” Buba said, expressing his hope for a resolution that would preserve his marriage.
Buba voiced his frustration over the handling of the case, particularly the actions of Hisbah, the religious police, and the transfer of the investigation to the Assistant Inspector General’s (AIG) office in Zone One. The case has been under police investigation for nearly two weeks.
“Let me say categorically that this case has been with the police in Kano for the last two weeks, and they have effectively investigated it. Hisbah is also aware of the case,” Buba noted, stressing that these developments suggest attempts to undermine the case.

Buba also responded to accusations made by his wife’s lawyer, who claimed that Buba had divorced Tasleem long ago, mistreated her, and even fired gunshots during their disagreements. Buba firmly denied these allegations, calling them false and misleading.
He clarified, “This lawyer has seriously lied against me because, in the first place, Tasleem is still my wife, and she lives in my house. In the second place, I don’t have a gun, let alone firing it during our disagreements.”
Buba urged his wife’s legal counsel to retract these statements and correct the record, warning that he would seek legal recourse to protect his reputation if the allegations were not withdrawn. He presented evidence to counter the lawyer’s claims, including recent photos of him and Tasleem celebrating Eid Kabeer together in his home, which he said contradicted the notion of a long-standing separation.
He also disputed claims about the car involved in the case, explaining that the vehicle in question was a personal purchase made just two weeks ago.
“The lawyer lied that I divorced my wife two years ago, but our recent pictures showing myself and her in my house celebrating Eid Kabeer debunk that insinuation. The car she was caught with is also my personal car, which I bought not less than two weeks ago. So what is he talking about?” Buba stated, challenging the narrative presented by his wife’s legal team.
