The Yobe State Police Command has made a major arrest, detaining a 54-year-old woman, Hamsatu Modu, for trafficking ammunition. During a thorough search of the vehicle, they discovered 350 rounds of live 7.62x39mm ammunition hidden in her luggage.
“The suspect was found with 350 rounds of live ammunition concealed in her luggage. This arrest marks a significant breakthrough in our commitment to ensuring effective policing and public safety in Yobe State,” DSP Abdulkarim revealed.
Interrogation Underway as Investigation Deepens
Currently, Hamsatu Modu is being interrogated by the police as they work to unravel the network and motives behind her actions. Investigators are looking into possible connections with other criminal groups involved in arms trafficking in the region. The authorities hope that this arrest will shed light on how such operations are being organized and help to prevent further trafficking activities.
Police Call for Public Cooperation
Following this operation, the Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, Garba Ahmed, reiterated the importance of community involvement in maintaining security. He encouraged residents to work closely with the police and other security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities.
“The public is advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, persons, or objects to the nearest police station or security formation,” CP Ahmed emphasized.
He further urged citizens to take a proactive role in supporting law enforcement, saying, “If you see something, say something.”
