Kingsley Sule, popularly known as Kellyrae, recently emerged as the winner of the Big Brother Naija (BBN) Season Nine, titled “No Lose Guard.” In an exclusive interview with journalist Tofarati Ige, Kellyrae shared his experiences inside the house and his plans for the future, including his career aspirations and how he intends to manage his newfound wealth.
When asked about his chances of winning, Kellyrae admitted, “There was no point that I thought I was going to win the competition. I was just praying that God should keep us (he and his wife, Kassia) till the second week.” He explained that he wanted to stay long enough to make an impact, saying, “Even if we leave with the money, it is what we leave behind that people will talk about. Those are the things that will open more doors for us.”
Reflecting on his win, he expressed disbelief, stating, “Even till now, my brain is still processing the realization that I won the show. It’s almost like I don’t know what I’m doing here, being interviewed.”
Kellyrae shared his thoughts on other contestants, noting that he believed some of them had a better chance at winning. “Going by what I had heard about BBN, I thought people like Wanni, Handi, Onyeka, or the Mbadiwe twins could have won,” he said. Despite this, he remained focused on his own journey throughout the competition.
Some fans speculated that Kellyrae’s decision not to disclose his marital status to fellow contestants was a clever strategy. He clarified, “That was not the strategy to get me to the final. It was actually the strategy for me and my wife to connect with other contestants.” He emphasized that revealing his marital status might have changed how others interacted with him and his wife.
With his newfound fame, Kellyrae expressed the importance of preparing for the attention that comes with it. “Before my wife and I came on the show, we knew what to expect. I had a discussion with my wife, and we predicted that our lives won’t remain the same,” he said. He added that they had been married for a short time but felt they had a strong bond due to their long courtship.
Kellyrae mentioned that he did not encounter significant challenges during his time in the house. “I honestly had no challenges. I was ready for any outcome,” he shared. He also made it clear that he avoided flirtations with the women in the house, focusing instead on his interactions with the men.
When discussing the financial aspect of his victory, Kellyrae laughed when asked how he would share the prize money with his wife. “We will have a meeting, and when we are done, we will let you know our decision.” He affectionately referred to her as his “secretary” and “treasurer,” emphasizing their partnership in both life and work.

Reflecting on his financial history, Kellyrae revealed, “I have made and spent millions of naira; but I have never had one million naira in my account at the same time.” He expressed confidence in managing his newfound wealth, stating, “It is important to be prepared for a stage that one hopes and prays to get to so that when it finally comes, one would know how to handle it.”
Looking ahead, Kellyrae is eager to pursue his music career. He acknowledged that many believe participating in BBN may not guarantee success in music, but he is determined to prove otherwise. “I have already made history by being the first married man to win the show,” he stated proudly.
When asked about role models among past BBN winners, Kellyrae said he admires all of them for different reasons. “I pick things from everybody. My mum often says that one could even learn from the dance of a madman,” he noted, emphasizing his desire to learn and grow from various experiences.
As Kellyrae adjusts to his new life as a winner, he remains grounded and focused on his future. With his wife by his side and a clear vision for his career, he is ready to navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. “I’ll be fine,” he concluded, exuding confidence in his journey from anonymity to stardom.
