MultiChoice Group, the leading pay-TV operator, has announced the rebranding of its SuperSport variety channels on both DStv and GOtv platforms. The changes, which took effect on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, are aimed at providing a better viewing experience for sports lovers.
In a statement on Thursday, Tope Oshunkeye, the Executive Head of Marketing at MultiChoice West Africa, revealed that the updates are part of the company’s efforts to offer an enhanced sports lineup to its customers. “The channel revamp is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our sports offering and provide customers with more unbeatable sports content that resonates with them,” Oshunkeye explained.
Changes on DStv and GOtv
As part of the rebranding, the SuperSport Select Channel has been renamed SuperSport Africa, reflecting a broader African focus. Additionally, a brand-new channel, SuperSport Action, has been introduced, offering a wider range of sports content. This includes Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) matches and more UEFA Champions League games, giving sports fans access to even more thrilling events.
For GOtv subscribers, there are several changes depending on the package:
- On the GOtv Jinja and Jolli packages, SuperSport Africa will replace the current Select 2 channel (Channel 64).
- On the GOtv Max package, both SuperSport Africa and SuperSport Africa 2 will replace Select 1 and Select 2 (Channels 63 and 64).
- For GOtv Supa and SupaPlus subscribers, the new SuperSport Action channel will replace Select 3 (Channel 69).
More Sports Content for Fans
Oshunkeye highlighted that these changes are part of MultiChoice’s commitment to offering top-notch sports coverage to its customers across Africa. “The new channels will deliver top sports action from around the world, including local boxing, UFC events, comprehensive analysis, and other engaging content curated for the African audience,” he said.
He also reassured subscribers that the company remains dedicated to delivering premium sports services. “We remain committed to continuously exploring ways to delight our customers with more choices, exciting live content, and great value,” Oshunkeye added.
