British heavyweight boxing champion Daniel Dubois has confirmed that a rematch with former champion Anthony Joshua is on the horizon. Dubois, who successfully defended his IBF heavyweight title against Joshua last month, has expressed eagerness to face his rival again in what could be another thrilling encounter.
The two fighters first met at Wembley Stadium in London in a highly anticipated bout. Dubois entered the ring as the reigning IBF heavyweight champion, having secured the title with a knockout victory over Filip Hrgovic in June. Joshua, on the other hand, was riding high after his own knockout win against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in March.
Despite being the betting underdog, Dubois came out strong, repeatedly knocking Joshua down in the early rounds. However, Joshua fought back fiercely in the fifth round, landing a powerful right hand that seemed to momentarily put Dubois in trouble. But Dubois quickly regained control and delivered a devastating hook that knocked Joshua out, sealing his victory and cementing his status as one of the elite fighters in the heavyweight division.
Reflecting on the fight, Dubois said the victory was a defining moment in his career. “I had to slay the king,” Dubois stated. “No one said it was going to be easy, but I came through whatever fire he brought at me.”

Following his defeat, Joshua expressed his desire for a rematch. While some speculated that Joshua might pursue other fights, Dubois confirmed in a recent interview with Seconds Out that a rematch is on the cards. He welcomed the challenge and even praised Joshua’s performance in their first bout.
“If he wants it, I want it too,” Dubois said. “I was the better man on the night, but there’s no disrespect. I’m not going to badmouth him or anything—it was a great fight, and if we can do it again, it’ll be even bigger.”
Dubois emphasized his enjoyment of their first encounter, which he described as a back-and-forth firefight. “I love those sorts of matchups where we’re just letting our hands go, back and forth, rolling the dice, gun slinging,” he continued. “It was really exciting for me, to be honest.”
The announcement of a potential rematch has already generated excitement among boxing fans, who are eager to see if Joshua can reclaim his former glory or if Dubois will once again prove to be the superior fighter. Both men have shown resilience and determination in the ring, setting the stage for what promises to be another electrifying showdown.
