Former Real Madrid player Antonio Cassano has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo sent him a detailed message listing all his achievements after Cassano left the Portuguese star out of his personal top 10 players list. The Italian footballer made the claim during a recent interview, sharing details of the heated exchange.
Cassano, who played for Real Madrid from 2006 to 2008, said that in a discussion about the greatest football players, he ranked Brazilian Ronaldo as his top choice and excluded Cristiano Ronaldo from even his top five. Cassano explained his reasoning, stating, “For me, the quality of a player is something different. Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t make my top five or even my top ten.”
However, after making this comment, Cassano received a surprising message from a Spanish phone number. “I finish the work I was doing, and I get a text message from a +34 number, which is Spain. It’s a list of all the trophies, goals, and statistics,” Cassano said. He explained that Ronaldo had sent him the message to highlight his many achievements in football, including his numerous goals and accolades.
Cassano also revealed that Ronaldo followed up the message with a voice note. In the audio message, the Portuguese star reportedly expressed his displeasure, saying, “You disrespected me. Don’t do anything like that again. You only scored 150 goals, you only won four trophies.” According to Cassano, Ronaldo made it clear that he felt insulted by the snub.
Cassano responded to Ronaldo’s message, saying, “Dear Cristiano, listen to me. You think I disrespected you, but I just don’t like you as a player. What’s the problem?” The Italian player made it clear that his opinion of Ronaldo’s playing style remained unchanged despite the confrontation.
