The Governors’ Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reiterated its strong backing for Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara. This assurance was given by the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed, during a visit to the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt.
Governor Mohammed praised Fubara for his leadership and commitment to democracy, stating that the Rivers governor has demonstrated true democratic values despite challenges. “Governor Fubara has proven himself a true democrat, taking bold decisions that promote democracy even in the face of difficulties,” Mohammed said. He commended Fubara for his proactive approach to governance, especially at the local government level, where officials from different political parties are now in office.
According to Mohammed, Fubara has shown great openness and adaptability in his leadership, ensuring that democratic governance continues smoothly across Rivers State, regardless of political affiliations. He noted that although the local government chairmen and councillors in the state come from various political parties, the governor has prioritized effective governance over party loyalty.
“Rivers State remains a PDP state, even though officials at the local government level belong to other political parties,” Mohammed stated. He described this as a challenge faced by both the party and its governors but expressed confidence in Fubara’s ability to navigate the situation. “Fubara has developed strategies to ensure that governance is delivered effectively, and he has done this without letting party lines interfere with the process.”
As Vice Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Fubara continues to play a key role in the party, and Mohammed emphasized that he remains a committed PDP member. “He is still with us, a strong PDP man. I am here on behalf of the governors to show solidarity for the democratic instincts he has shown, which reflect a new approach in Nigerian politics. He has allowed other parties to participate, ensuring no vacuum in the political space.”
