The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 25-year-old Chibunna Chiemelie for allegedly stabbing his father to death during a heated argument at their home on Oba Kabiru Street in the Isolo area of Lagos. The tragic incident occurred on the evening of October 3, 2024, and has shocked the local community.
According to the police, the arrest was made after a neighbor of the deceased, Mr. Chiemelie, 68, reported the crime to the Aswani Police Division. The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the suspect, Chibunna, had confessed to killing his father.
Hundeyin explained that the neighbor, who witnessed the aftermath of the incident, quickly notified the police. “The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on October 3, 2024. A neighbor of the victim contacted the police to report the tragic event,” Hundeyin said.
He added, “The neighbor informed us that Mr. Chiemelie and his son were in an altercation, and upon entering the residence, he found the father lying in a pool of blood.” Shocked by the scene, the neighbor immediately filed the police report that led to Chibunna’s arrest.
