Nigerian singer Portable has once again found himself at the center of controversy, this time for ordering his associates to physically assault a car dealer who failed to deliver his new car. The incident, which was captured on a livestream, has drawn widespread attention and criticism.
The confrontation arose after Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, claimed that he had paid for a car to be shipped from the United States two months ago. However, despite the payment and the passage of time, the vehicle had not yet been delivered. In a fit of frustration, the singer directed his anger at the car dealer, who was seen sitting on the floor, visibly distressed and pleading for mercy.
During the livestream, Portable was heard angrily shouting at the dealer, demanding to know the whereabouts of his car. “Where is my car? I will destroy your life. Where is my car? Are you trying to kill me or scam me? Where is my car?” the singer yelled, as his associates carried out the assault.
Portable explained that he had been waiting for the car for two months and had planned to pick it up the previous day to share the news on social media. However, he accused the car dealer of lying about the car’s whereabouts, claiming that the dealer initially said the car had been picked up by customs, only for Portable to find out that this was not true.
“He helped me ship my car from America; it has been two months, and I have not seen my car. I was supposed to pick the car up yesterday and make my social media post, but he has been lying to me,” Portable explained during the livestream. “He first said that the car was picked up by customs, but when we got there, we didn’t see them.”
This incident comes just days after Portable faced backlash for slapping a preacher, adding to a growing list of controversies surrounding the singer. The latest incident has sparked conversations about the singer’s behavior and the use of violence to settle disputes. Many on social media have condemned the act, calling for legal action to be taken against Portable for ordering the assault.
The car dealer’s condition following the assault is currently unknown, and it remains to be seen whether the singer will face any legal consequences for his actions.
