A 19-year-old woman, Fatimo Agboke, has been accused of fatally stabbing her neighbor’s son, 20-year-old Faroul Azeez, in the Ijegun area of Lagos State. The tragic incident occurred on the evening of September 9, 2024, during a heated confrontation between the two.
According to reports, the confrontation escalated when Agboke allegedly grabbed a broken bottle and stabbed Azeez in the neck. The wound proved fatal, and despite desperate attempts to rush him to the hospital, Azeez succumbed to his injuries on the way.
The incident was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who provided details of the tragic event. “On September 9, 2024, a complaint was received from the Ijegun area of the state, reported at Isheri-Oshun Division by a man that a neighbor had an argument with his son,” Hundeyin stated.
He continued, “The victim was stabbed with a broken bottle on his neck by Agboke, which caused him grievous bodily harm. Unfortunately, he gave up the ghost during an attempt to rush to a hospital for medical attention.”
Police officers from the Isheri-Oshun Division responded quickly to the scene, where they found Azeez lying lifeless in a pool of blood with a deep cut on his neck. The body was later transported to Mainland General Hospital in Yaba for an autopsy.
The police have arrested and detained Fatimo Agboke, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident. The arrest of Agboke marks another tragic case of fatal violence in Lagos.
This incident echoes a similar case from earlier this year. In February 2024, a middle-aged woman named Cynthia Aigbondon was arrested for fatally stabbing her neighbor, identified only as Barakat, in the Ajegunle area of Lagos. The Lagos State Police Command also handled that case, highlighting ongoing concerns about violence within communities.
The Lagos State Police Command has urged residents to resolve conflicts peacefully and avoid resorting to violence.
