Former President Goodluck Jonathan paid a visit to Katsina State on Saturday to offer his condolences to the Yar’Adua family following the passing of Hajiya Dada Yar’Adua, the mother of late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
The visit highlighted the deep bond and respect Jonathan had for the Yar’Adua family, which extends back to his time as vice president under Umaru Yar’Adua’s administration.
Jonathan was warmly received upon his arrival in Katsina by the State Governor, Dikko Radda, who was accompanied by the Deputy Governor, Faruk Lawal, and other members of the State Executive Council. Together, they proceeded to the Yar’adua quarters, where Senator Abdulazeez Yar’adua welcomed the former president and his delegation.
During the visit, Jonathan shared his heartfelt memories of Hajiya Dada Yar’Adua, emphasizing the profound impact she had on many lives. “I used to call her the mother of all because of her nurturing role that extended far beyond her immediate family and touched the lives of many across the nation,” Jonathan remarked.
He offered his deep sympathies to the Yar’Adua family, recognizing the loss as a significant one not just for the family but for the entire country. In his words, “She was a figure of strength and grace, and her influence will be missed by all who knew her.”
Jonathan concluded his visit by praying for the deceased, asking God to grant Hajiya Dada Yar’Adua eternal rest. The visit was a moment of reflection and unity, demonstrating the lasting bonds formed between leaders and the enduring legacy of the Yar’Adua family in Nigeria’s history.
