The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the recruitment of airmen and airwomen for its 2024 basic military training course. The recruitment is now open, and qualified Nigerians are invited to apply online.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Bakari, representing the Chief of Air Staff, provided details about the application process. He emphasized that applicants must submit their application only once, as multiple submissions will lead to disqualification.
After completing the online application, candidates need to print and sign three forms: the acknowledgment form, parent/guardian consent form, and local government attestation form. These documents should be signed by a military officer or a local government chairman.
To be eligible, applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and possess either a National Identity Card (NIN) or Bank Verification Number (BVN). They must also meet specific height requirements: at least 1.66 meters for males and 1.63 meters for females. Additionally, applicants must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit, and have no previous criminal convictions.
For non-tradesmen and tradeswomen, the age limit is between 18 and 22 years, with those born before September 20, 2003, ineligible to apply. Non-tradesmen and tradeswomen must have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in no more than two sittings from WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB.
Tradesmen and tradeswomen can apply if they are between 18 and 25 years old, with those born before September 20, 2000, excluded. Applicants for roles such as chaplain, Imam assistant, drivers, and mechanics must be between 18 and 28 years old, with those born before September 20, 1997, not eligible.
Applicants for specialized positions must have specific qualifications. For instance, those applying for roles like driver, carpenter, mechanic, plumber, mason, electrician, painter, and in building technology must hold trade test certificates and have a minimum of two passes in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB, with a credit in English.
For medical-related professions, applicants need an ND from recognized institutions and a valid practicing license. Sports applicants must provide evidence of experience, including certificates and medals.
The online registration period is from August 21 to October 2, 2024. The zonal recruitment general aptitude test is scheduled to begin on October 8, 2024.
Air Vice Marshal Bakari also noted that the entire NAF recruitment process is free of charge. No payments are required at any stage of the application process. Interested candidates can apply online at the NAF recruitment website.
