Nollywood actress Ini Dima-Okojie has opened up about her decision to drastically change her diet in an effort to treat her fibroids naturally.
The actress, who has previously undergone surgery to remove fibroids, revealed that she is now taking a holistic approach to manage her health condition.
In a video shared on her TikTok account on August 15, 2024, Ini Dima-Okojie discussed her decision to give up several types of food, including bread, meat, and other processed foods, as part of a special diet aimed at reducing her fibroids. She explained that she is determined to avoid surgery this time around.
“So I’m on a holistic journey to shrink my fibroids, which means I have to go on a special fibroid diet. These are some of the things I had to give up: red meat—lamb, cow, ram, goat and all that goat meat—sausages, processed meat, and any form of red meat. White carbs like white pasta noodles, rice, and bread, which I love, are also out,” she said.
The actress continued to list other foods she has removed from her diet, including dairy products and refined sugar, which are commonly found in cookies, cakes, and other sweets. She also mentioned that she is avoiding carbonated drinks, caffeine, and foods high in sodium.
“Dairy, so cheese, milk, refined sugar like cookies, cakes, condiments, and processed food in general. Also, carbonated drinks and caffeine. Honorary mention, sodium and anything high in salt. So I am avoiding these things because they are high in estrogen, and these things can make the fibroids grow,” she added.
Ini Dima-Okojie’s decision to change her diet comes after she announced that her fibroids had returned, three years after she underwent invasive surgery to remove them in 2020. In a heartfelt video posted in July 2024, she shared the emotional impact of the news and expressed her reluctance to go through surgery again.
The actress has received an outpouring of support from fans and followers who have praised her for taking control of her health and seeking alternative ways to manage her condition. Many have also shared their own experiences with fibroids, creating a sense of community and understanding around the issue.
Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus and can cause a range of symptoms, including heavy menstrual bleeding, pain, and pressure in the pelvic area. While surgery is a common treatment option, many women, like Ini Dima-Okojie, are exploring other methods, such as dietary changes, to manage their fibroids.
Ini Dima-Okojie’s decision to go on a fibroid-specific diet highlights the growing interest in holistic health approaches. By sharing her journey publicly, she hopes to inspire others who may be facing similar health challenges to consider all available options and to take proactive steps in managing their conditions.
The actress remains optimistic about her holistic approach and is determined to see if these dietary changes can help reduce the size of her fibroids without the need for further surgical intervention.
