The Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) has carried out the execution of a police officer who was abducted along the Damboa-Biu Road in Borno State.
According to the source, the tragic incident occurred on Sunday, April 7, 2024, around 10:00 a.m. as the police officer, along with his wife and children, were traveling from Damboa to Biu for the Eid break.
Speaking of the incident, a reliable source informed Zagazola Makama that the family inadvertently took a banned route, leading to their abduction by suspected ISWAP operatives in the Shokotoko general area, approximately 73 kilometers south of Damboa. The abduction sent shockwaves through the community and heightened concerns about security along the route.
“The police officer with wife and children were on transit from Damboa to Biu for Eid break but unfortunately went through a banned route,” the source revealed.

The abductors later released the wife and children, but the police officer was not spared. The terrorists executed him later in the evening, leaving the family devastated and the community in mourning. The incident shows that insurgent groups like ISWAP continue to pose a regional threat.
“The wife and his children were released, while the police officer was executed by the terrorists,” the source stated.
The execution of the police officer highlights the ongoing security challenges that residents and travelers in Borno State are facing. The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of banned routes and the continued threat of insurgent attacks posed in the region.
