The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced that training for successful police constable recruits will begin on August 10. This decision follows the approval from the police recruitment board, according to a statement released on Monday by Ikechukwu Ani, PSC spokesperson.
Ani advised the successful candidates to check their training information and confirm their status.
“The training of the specialist cadre will start two months after the general duty recruits begin,” he added, noting that further details for the specialist training would be announced later.
The PSC expressed gratitude to the applicants for their patience during the recruitment process.
“The Police Service Commission wishes to appreciate the applicants for their patience and understanding while efforts were made to ensure that the exercise was inclusive and generally acceptable,” the statement read.
The commission emphasized its commitment to merit-based recruitment and adherence to federal character principles.
“We will continue to ensure that recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force is based on merit and respect for the federal character principles,” Ani said.

Successful candidates were encouraged to view their selection as a call to duty.
“The commission will monitor their training programmes to ensure that they will come out prepared to join forces in fighting the security challenges facing our nation,” Ani stated.
In June, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) had rejected the PSC’s list of successful candidates, citing alleged corruption and irregularities. The NPF claimed that the PSC’s portal included names of individuals who did not apply or participate in the recruitment exercise.
In response, the PSC challenged the NPF to provide evidence of the alleged corruption. The commission also accused the police of attempting to overstep their constitutional authority in the recruitment process.
