Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), addressed Nigerians on the country’s current hardships, attributing them to leadership failures since 2007.
He emphasized the importance of good governance, rule of law, transparency, and accountability in setting Nigeria on the path to economic development and improved citizen welfare.
Kwankwaso highlighted the negative impact of poor governance, noting that it has led to widespread anger, hunger, insecurity, and hopelessness among citizens, especially the youth. He pointed to specific issues, such as the Federal Government’s interference in Kano State’s chieftaincy matters, the impeachment of Edo State’s Deputy Governor, political crises in Rivers State, sabotage of the Dangote refinery, controversies surrounding the SAMOA agreement, conflicts within the APC leadership, and widespread insecurity.
“We appeal to the leadership of the country at all levels to take necessary steps to address the myriad challenges facing the country,” Kwankwaso stated. He expressed solidarity with recent calls for protests against bad governance, recognizing them as a reflection of collective frustration and a yearning for a better Nigeria.
However, Kwankwaso urged Nigerians to prioritize the country’s welfare by being patient with the government and offering support to help it succeed. He reminded citizens of their power to effect change through voting. “If any government fails to provide the necessary leadership for a better Nigeria, we will have the opportunity as citizens to elect the people who can bring the required change using our votes,” he said.

In his closing remarks, Kwankwaso reiterated his belief in Nigeria’s potential and urged citizens to consider peaceful and effective means of transformation. “Our nation stands at a crossroads, and our collective frustration with bad governance has reached a boiling point,” he said. “However, I urge you to channel your energy into a more effective and peaceful means of transformation—through the power of your ballot.”
