LG Electronics has announced its new LG OLED Instore gaming tournament, set to take place in Lagos, Nigeria. The tournament will feature FIFA competitions running from July to August 2024, with the winner of each Saturday’s match advancing to the final round.
In a statement, LG highlighted the advantages of its OLED technology for gaming. Choongbae Seok, General Manager of Home Entertainment for LG’s TV Division, emphasized that LG OLED TVs offer superior performance. “With cutting-edge self-illuminating pixels, you can experience a more accurate, pure, and brighter picture than ever before,” Seok said.
He noted that LG OLED TVs feature extremely low input lag and an impressive 1ms response time. This quick response ensures that every action taken on the controller is immediately reflected on the screen, providing players with a significant competitive edge.

LG has partnered with NVIDIA to make its OLED TVs G-SYNC compatible, enhancing gaming performance with smooth visuals and fast response times even at high resolutions. “OLED technology provides a safer and more comfortable viewing experience,” Seok added, “thanks to its flicker-free technology and certified low blue light levels. This reduces eye strain during long gaming sessions and minimizes visual fatigue.”
Seok also explained that LG OLED TVs avoid the flicker common in LED TVs. “Flicker occurs on LED TVs due to their backlight systems, which can stress the eyes. LG OLED TVs, however, do not have backlights, eliminating flicker and offering faster response times,” he said.
The tournament aims to showcase these advanced features while offering Lagos residents a chance to compete in exciting FIFA matches.
