Google has announced significant upgrades to its Gemini AI, introducing a new feature that enhances the AI’s speed and functionality.
The latest update includes the 1.5 Flash model, which offers faster and more accurate responses, improved reasoning, and a larger context window.
In the new update, Gemini will now provide links to related content for users seeking factual information. This feature aims to help users explore topics more effectively and reduce misinformation. The upgrade is also rolling out to Google Messages in more countries and languages, and the Gemini mobile app is expanding its reach globally. Teenagers will soon be able to use Gemini with added safety measures and educational resources.
Amar Subramanya, VP of Engineering for Gemini, said, “Every day, we learn about how people are using Gemini to be more productive, creative, and curious. With today’s update, Gemini is getting better at helping you accomplish those tasks in ways that work best for you. You can now access 1.5 Flash in the unpaid version of Gemini for faster and more helpful responses.”
He added that the new feature for fact-seeking prompts will reduce misinformation and make it easier to find reliable sources. “Starting today for English language prompts in certain countries, you can access this additional information directly within Gemini’s responses. We’ve also introduced a double-check feature that verifies responses using Google Search to highlight which statements are supported or contradicted on the web,” Subramanya explained.

The update also includes expanding Gemini’s access to teenagers globally in over 40 languages. Teens who meet the minimum age requirement for managing their Google Account will soon be able to use Gemini to understand school subjects, prepare for university, or work on creative projects.
“We want to create opportunities for teens to benefit from AI and prepare them for a future where AI will play a central role,” Subramanya said. “We’ve added policies and safeguards, a teen-specific onboarding process, and an AI literacy guide. We’ve also partnered with child safety experts to ensure we meet the unique needs of teens and families.”
This update marks a major step in enhancing Gemini AI’s capabilities and making it more accessible and user-friendly for a broader audience.
