YouTube Music has introduced new features to help users discover songs more easily. The platform has rolled out Sound Search and is expanding the Generative AI Radio feature.
Sound Search is a new tool that allows users to find songs by singing, humming, or playing parts of them. Similar to Shazam, this feature helps identify songs based on audio prompts.
Users can access it by clicking the “Search” magnifying glass icon, which now includes a ‘waveform’-like icon.
Clicking this icon opens a new interface that records the sound and searches the app’s catalog for a match.
“YouTube Music users can now find the name of a song just by humming or singing it,” YouTube announced.
This feature is available to all users.

Generative AI Radio is an experimental feature that creates custom radio stations based on user descriptions. Initially tested last May, it is now being expanded to more Premium subscribers in the U.S.
This feature allows users to describe the type of music they want to hear, and the AI generates a station that matches the description.
Users will see a new “Ask for music any way you like” card in the app’s home feed. By clicking on this card, they can enter a custom prompt or choose a suggested one, such as “slow soulful anthems” or “catchy pop choruses.”
“YouTube Music’s generative AI radio lets users create personalized stations by simply describing their music preferences,” YouTube stated.
Currently, this feature is only available to select Premium users in the U.S., with plans to expand it to more users in the future.
These new tools aim to enhance the music discovery experience on YouTube Music, making it easier for users to find and enjoy their favorite songs.
