The All Progressives Congress (APC) has removed Senator Ali Ndume as the Chief Whip of the 10th Senate.
Senator Tahir Mongunu, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters, will replace him. Both Ndume and Mongunu are from Borno State in the North-East geopolitical zone.

This decision followed a directive in a letter from APC National Chairman Alhaji Umar Ganduje and National Secretary Senator Bashir Ajibola. Senate President Godswill Akpabio presented the request at a plenary session on Wednesday, where the majority of APC senators affirmed the change through a voice vote.
The removal of Ndume is reportedly linked to his recent comments criticizing President Bola Tinubu. In an interview last week, Ndume claimed that the president was “caged” at the villa and unaware of the severe hunger affecting Nigerians.
