WhatsApp is working on a new feature that could let users create AI-generated images of themselves. This new feature, called “Imagine Me,” was recently discovered in the latest WhatsApp Beta for Android (version 2.24.14.7) by WABetaInfo.
Although it is not yet available to the public, the leaked details reveal that users will soon be able to upload a few selfies, and the Meta AI chatbot will then generate images of them in different settings. “You will be able to create photos of yourself in various locations like a forest or outer space,” explained WABetaInfo.
The feature aims to help users create unique profile pictures or stickers without needing to take new photos. According to the leaked screenshot, users will interact with a Meta AI chatbot to get these customized images. The images could then be used as WhatsApp stickers or shared in chats.

Meta AI, which started rolling out in select regions like the US and India, allows users to interact with a chatbot for one-on-one or group chat conversations. The chatbot also offers new AI features such as AI-generated photo creation.
However, the new photo feature is still in development and might not be available for a while. To check if you have access to the AI chatbot, look for a new blue icon on your WhatsApp main chat list screen. Meta is also testing a redesigned search bar that suggests AI chat prompts.
WABetaInfo also found a new option for users to switch between different language model sizes in the chatbot. The larger Llama 3-405B model offers more advanced capabilities compared to the smaller Llama 3-70B model, which powers the current version of Meta AI. “The screenshot shows a weekly cap for the larger Llama 3-405B model, similar to the limits seen with ChatGPT and Claude,” WABetaInfo noted.
Meta’s potential plan to monetize this feature remains unclear, but the introduction of AI-generated photos could be a step towards attracting more users to the platform. “This could be one of Meta’s first moves to build a loyal user base for their new AI features,” WABetaInfo suggested.
As the feature is still under development, users will need to wait for more details and an official release date from WhatsApp..
