Senator Ireti Kingibe has sharply criticized Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for failing to address the needs of the FCT residents.
In an interview on ARISE Television, Kingibe accused Wike of not doing enough for the people of the FCT despite his infrastructure projects. She claimed that Wike’s efforts only benefit a small section of the capital city.
“The minister may be effective in a ministry without a direct public role,” Kingibe said. “But as FCT Minister, Wike must also focus on the community’s needs. He is acting almost like a governor but ignoring the everyday issues that residents face.”

Kingibe criticized Wike for focusing on high-profile projects in wealthier areas, while neglecting basic services for most residents. “People are not impressed by Wike’s projects,” she said. “There is no water, and the recent fire in Karu could have been prevented if there was a proper water supply and access roads.”
She continued, “It’s like a governor boasting about roads while ignoring the real needs of the people. The minister should be addressing critical issues, not just celebrating flashy projects.”
Kingibe’s comments highlight ongoing dissatisfaction with Wike’s approach to managing the FCT and set the stage for future debates on the effectiveness of his policies.
