The Obidient Movement, loyal supporters of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have declared full support for George Moghalu in the upcoming Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.
Speaking at a press conference in Awka on Friday, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, warned that any attempt to manipulate the polls would be strongly resisted.
“Let it be stated unequivocally that the Obidient family is fully on ground in every part of Anambra State. We have completed the inauguration of our polling unit commanders across all 5,720 polling units in the state,” Tanko said.
Tanko said the group had put in place “robust mechanisms and digital technologies” to prevent election rigging. He stressed that “the era when results were written in back rooms is over. This generation of Nigerians, this generation of Obidients, will not allow the old order of electoral malpractice to thrive again.”

The Obidient leader said the movement remains united and disciplined behind Moghalu’s candidacy and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a free and fair election.
“We call on INEC to remain impartial and professional, and we warn that any compromise of the process will be resisted through lawful and democratic means,” he stated.
Tanko also assured Anambra residents that the movement’s volunteers, women, and youth structures had been trained to monitor the election process from voter accreditation to result transmission.
“A new Anambra is possible, and together, we will make it happen,” he added confidently.
The November 8 election will mark the end of Governor Charles Soludo’s first term under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). The race is expected to be highly competitive, with major political parties — including the Labour Party, All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and APGA — all vying for control of the state, which is widely regarded as Peter Obi’s political stronghold.
