US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will on Monday co-chair a major Gaza peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, bringing together world leaders to discuss ways to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

According to a statement from President Sisi’s office, the summit will gather leaders from more than 20 countries. The goal, the statement said, is “to end the war in the Gaza Strip, enhance efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East, and usher in a new era of regional security.”
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres confirmed that he will attend the summit, along with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
French President Emmanuel Macron and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will also join the talks, while the European Council will be represented by its president, Antonio Costa.
In a statement, the European Council said, “The plan offers a real chance to build a just and sustainable peace, and the EU is fully committed to supporting these efforts and contributing to its implementation.”
Jordan’s King Abdullah II is also expected to attend, according to Jordanian state media.
However, there was no confirmation on whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would participate in the summit.
The Hamas group announced it would not attend the meeting. Speaking to AFP, Hamas political bureau member Hossam Badran said, “We will not be involved,” adding that the group “acted principally through Qatari and Egyptian mediators” in earlier peace discussions.
The Sharm el-Sheikh summit is expected to be one of the most significant diplomatic efforts in recent years to bring peace to Gaza and strengthen cooperation among Middle Eastern and global powers.
