Police in Kano have arrested two suspects linked to the violent attack on Nigerian singer Keshinro Ololade, popularly known as Lil Kesh.
The suspects, Mathew Adewole, 25, and Mukhtar Muhammad, 31, were arrested at Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano, after police gathered intelligence on the case.
Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna confirmed the arrest in a statement. He said Adewole confessed to attacking the singer at his Lagos residence on August 19, 2025.
“Mathew Adewole confessed to attacking Lil Kesh, causing serious injuries, including a deep cut on the victim’s neck, in a bid to commit armed robbery and murder,” Haruna said.
He added that Adewole forced the singer to transfer ₦2,120,000 from his bank account to Muhammad’s account through his mobile phone.

Haruna explained that the arrests were made on September 11, 2025, after tactical operatives tracked the suspects.
“The Kano State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough in this case of armed robbery and attempted murder, thanks to robust intelligence and community collaboration,” he stated.
The suspects have since been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the officers for their diligence and thanked the public for their cooperation.
“We assure continued efforts to ensure safety and security,” he said.
