Popular chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has officially begun her attempt to cook the world’s biggest pot of jollof rice in Lagos.
The event, which kicked off on Friday at Eko Hotel and Suites, is part of the “Gino Jollof Festival,” hosted in partnership with culinary brand Gino.
Baci, who won global attention in 2023 after setting the record for the longest cooking marathon, is now aiming for another historic feat.
The jollof rice is being prepared in a custom-made pot measuring six metres wide and six metres tall. According to organisers, the dish will require 250 bags of rice and is expected to feed thousands.

Social media influencers such as Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye, Folagade Banks, and Veekee James were also present to cheer her on. The festival has already attracted huge crowds, with Gen Zs, millennials, food lovers, and celebrities filling the venue.
Over 20,000 people registered to attend the festival, which is free and open to the public.
Speaking at the event, Baci promised to deliver an unforgettable experience.
“The meal will be amazing and hygienic. Nigerians and the world will enjoy this record-breaking jollof rice,” she assured.
The attempt is expected to further cement Nigeria’s pride in jollof rice, a dish often celebrated across West Africa.
