Muhammed Babangida has confirmed that he has accepted his appointment as the Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), thanking President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve.
In a statement released on Monday, Babangida denied online reports claiming he had rejected the appointment. He described the reports as false and harmful, saying they were aimed at misleading Nigerians and damaging the reputation of President Tinubu’s administration.
“Muhammed gratefully accepts the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture. He extends his sincere appreciation to President Tinubu for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him,” the statement said.

The statement also said that those behind the fake news would be investigated and brought to justice.
“We want to assure the public that those spreading these falsehoods will be thoroughly investigated and held accountable. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and fostering unity within our nation,” it added.
The statement ended with a call for Nigerians to fact-check stories and rely only on credible sources of information.
Babangida’s appointment is part of several key leadership changes recently approved by President Tinubu to strengthen institutions and drive national development.
