Austine, a young electrician from Kogi State, tragically lost his life on Wednesday while fixing an electrical fault at a popular wine bar in Rumuekini Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The incident sent shockwaves through the establishment as staff members panicked upon witnessing the tragic event. Austine was reportedly working on the faulty wiring when he was electrocuted.
The bar’s management swiftly reported the incident to the Choba Police Division. Officers were promptly dispatched to the scene to conduct an initial assessment and retrieve the deceased’s body.
Confirming the incident, Superintendent of Police and Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Mrs. Grace Iringe-Koko, stated, “Yes, I can confirm the incident. Police officers from Choba Police have visited the scene for preliminary investigation and further investigation is still on. The corpse of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary.”
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the electrocution and ensure safety measures are in place to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
