A shocking incident has occurred in Kudan, Kaduna State, where a newlywed woman, Habiba Ibrahim, allegedly cut the manhood of her 40-year-old husband, Salisu Idris, while he was asleep. The attack happened on May 26, shortly after Idris returned from the mosque where he had observed early morning prayers.
Idris, a commercial motorcycle rider, recounted the harrowing experience, stating that he was resting on his bed when his wife suddenly attacked him with a sharp knife. “She jumped on me with a knife and almost cut off my manhood,” Idris said. His cries for help alerted neighbors, who quickly intervened and rescued him from further harm.
The couple had been married for about four months, and Idris expressed his shock and confusion over the attack, noting that there had been no prior misunderstandings between them. “We loved each other, and there was no prior misunderstanding before the attack,” he remarked.
Following the incident, Idris was rushed to a local hospital in Kudan. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to the General Hospital Makarfi and subsequently to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, where doctors worked tirelessly to save his life.
Speaking from his hospital bed, Idris expressed his fears and concerns for the future. “At the moment, I am more concerned about my condition. I am afraid of remarrying because of this incident,” he said.
Idris’ mother, Rabi Salisu, who has been caring for him in the hospital, stated that her son had never mentioned any issues with his wife. “Her parents are worried and are willing to settle his medical bills,” she added, indicating that the family of Habiba Ibrahim is taking responsibility for the situation.
Efforts to get an update on Idris’ condition from the medical staff were unsuccessful. Additionally, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansur Hassan, could not be reached for comments on the incident.
The police have reportedly arrested Habiba Ibrahim in connection with the attack, but further details about her motives or any charges have not been disclosed. This shocking event has left the local community in disbelief and has raised concerns about domestic violence and marital safety.
