Liverpool forward and Portugal international Diogo Jota has died in a car accident in Spain. He was 28 years old.
Spanish newspaper MARCA reported that the crash happened on the A-52 motorway near Palacios de Sanabria, in the Zamora province. Jota died at the scene.
“Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota dies in a traffic accident in the province of Zamora,” MARCA wrote in a short statement.
Jota was born in 1996 and became a key player for both Liverpool FC and the Portuguese national team. His sudden death has shocked fans around the world.
Many are mourning the loss of a player known for his energy, skill, and passion for the game. Tributes are already pouring in from teammates, clubs, and supporters.
