Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports claiming that Wike allocated 2,082 hectares of land in Maitama and Asokoro to his son.
Olayinka described the story, which circulated online, as completely false and aimed at damaging the reputation of the minister.
“Not even a single plot of land has been allocated to any of the Minister’s children,” Olayinka said in a statement on Thursday.
He questioned the credibility of the report, asking:
“In Asokoro and Maitama of today, where can the FCT Minister see 2,082 hectares of land to allocate to anyone?”

Olayinka said the only evidence mentioned in the publication was a Right of Occupancy issued to JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited for agricultural purposes, not for any of the minister’s children
He explained. “JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited, a company duly registered in Nigeria, got land allocation in the Bwari Area Council strictly for farming.
“So what is wrong with a farmer getting land for agriculture?”
He added that while every Nigerian, including Wike and his family, has the right to own land if they meet the requirements, the claim that the minister gave land to his son is false.
“The publication claiming that the FCT minister allocated 2,082 hectares of land to his son is false and should be disregarded,” Olayinka stated.
He also challenged the online publisher to provide proof of any land allocation bearing the name of Wike’s children.
