French football star Kylian Mbappe has accused his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), of harassment. The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed on Thursday that it has opened an investigation into the complaint.
Mbappe says PSG treated him unfairly last year after he refused to sign a new contract. In a legal complaint, he claims the club forced him to train with players they were trying to sell and left him out of the pre-season tour in 2023.
“I was pushed aside simply because I didn’t renew my contract,” Mbappe reportedly told close sources.
The 26-year-old striker also says PSG owes him €55 million (about $64.4 million) in unpaid wages and bonuses. The issue has led to an ongoing court battle between Mbappe and the French club.

The French players’ union had raised a similar complaint in 2023, saying clubs must not isolate players for refusing to renew contracts. Mbappe’s case has now brought more attention to the practice.
Although he was later allowed to return to the team and play in the season, Mbappe left PSG last summer after seven seasons. He joined Spanish club Real Madrid.
Mbappe scored 256 goals in 308 games for PSG and became one of the club’s biggest stars. Interestingly, PSG won the UEFA Champions League for the first time just after his departure.
The investigation into his harassment claim is ongoing.
