The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, has suspended his Special Adviser on Documentation, Research, and Planning, Mkor Aondona, after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested him for alleged sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail.
In a statement on Sunday, the governor’s spokesperson, Tersoo Kula, said Aondona’s suspension is indefinite. He explained that the decision was taken to protect integrity, discipline, and accountability in the public service.
“Any official of this administration found wanting in matters of criminality or ethical misconduct will face the full weight of the law,” Governor Alia warned.
Kula added that Aondona is expected to cooperate with the investigation and respond to the serious allegations.
According to the EFCC, Aondona was arrested in Makurdi on Saturday after several female students filed petitions against him. They accused him of using his office to exploit and harass women.

The petitioners claimed Aondona often selected slim and attractive girls for ushering jobs, but demanded sexual favours in return. They also accused him of secretly recording explicit videos of the girls without their consent and sharing them on messaging platforms.
Some of those videos, according to the EFCC, are already in circulation.
The EFCC said Aondona will be charged to court soon.
The Benue State Government said it remains committed to protecting the rights and dignity of all citizens, especially women and vulnerable groups.
“We will continue to work with law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is served,” Kula stated.
