Police in Lagos have finally arrested a 44-year-old suspected cult leader and hired killer who has been terrorising the Mushin area of the state for over a decade.
The suspect, whose name was not released, was caught in his hideout in Agbado, Ogun State, after several failed attempts by the Lagos State Police Command.
Police spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Friday. He said the arrest happened during a special operation called Silence, Speed and Surprise, carried out by the Tactical Squad.
“Today, operatives of the Tactical Squad successfully trailed and arrested the notorious suspect. He had been operating with multiple gangs and causing chaos in Mushin and nearby areas for years,” Hundeyin said.
He described the suspect as one of the most wanted criminals in recent Lagos history, involved in violent crimes like armed robbery, murder, kidnapping, and cult killings from 2009 to 2024.
“His actions spread fear and caused great pain to families and communities. He was a major threat to peace in Mushin,” Hundeyin added.

Items recovered include:

- A red ryder rifle
- Three pump-action guns
- Two locally made pistols
- Five gun magazines
- 57 live cartridges

- 27 rounds of 9mm ammunition
- A dagger
- Three walkie-talkies
- Nine passports belonging to different people
Four families have already identified the suspect as responsible for the deaths of their children and relatives.
The Lagos Commissioner of Police, Owohunwa Jimoh, praised the officers involved and promised a full investigation. He also ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police, SCID, to track down the suspect’s gang members and bring them to justice.
“The suspect remains in custody under tight security and will be fully prosecuted. We are committed to making Lagos unsafe for criminals and ensuring the safety of all residents,” said CP Jimoh.
He urged the public to support the police by reporting suspicious activities and staying alert as the investigation continues
