In an unusual turn of events, residents of Abuja indulged in a spontaneous beer feast on Tuesday when a truck loaded with beer overturned near the popular Berger roundabout. The incident occurred around 4 pm along the Mabushi and Berger expressway after the driver lost control and veered off the road.
Passersby and motorists quickly swarmed the scene, helping themselves to the beer bottles scattered around the fallen truck. The situation rapidly evolved into a festive atmosphere, with dispatch riders, Bolt and Uber drivers, and even some of Abuja’s affluent residents in exotic cars and SUVs joining the impromptu party.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as almost carnival-like. Many residents took advantage of the unexpected bounty, some filling up buckets, while others carried crates of beer home.
